Over the period of a semester, we will investigate, reflect on, discuss, and practice all parts that make speaking about our science for an academic audience and for a more popular audience . The main approach is through analysis of what the presentations, speeches and popular texts do and implement these in our own context and practice. To get the most out of this, we suggest you work on your own scientific speech, whether academic or popular. Our overall aim is that after the semester, you’ll have build a repertoire of oral communication strategies you can apply every time you get up in front of an audience and talk about your science.
- The course increases your presentation skills of scientific and professional genres. It provides you with opportunities to apply these skills in the process of presenting an academic presentation and to receive ample feedback from your peers and the instructor.
